The Mustard Seed

The Mustard Seed
Matthew 13:31,32

In Matthew 13:31,32 we find the following:
“Another parable put he forth
unto them, saying, The kingdom of
heaven is like to a grain of mustard
seed, which a man took, and sowed in
his field: Which indeed is the least of
all seeds: but when it is grown, it is
the greatest among herbs, and
becometh a tree, so that the birds of
the air come and lodge in the branches
thereof”
From this parable we learn that the
kingdom or nation that was to be the
beginning of the Kingdom of Heaven on
earth was to have a very small and
insignificant beginning, but when it was
grown it was to be greatest among the
nations Herbs or trees in Scripture symbolize
nations. (See Ezekiel 17 and Daniel
4.)
Birds in Scripture symbolize evil and
destructive forces. (See Ezekiel 17 and
Revelation 18:2. & 5
Therefore in looking for the nation that
is to be the restoration of the Kingdom of
God on earth we must find a nation that
had a small beginning but grew to become
among the greatest of nations, having evil
and destructive forces in its branches of
government. Furthermore, this nation
must be in this world for in verse 38 Jesus
said, "the field is the world".
